NB Mining: VORP Mining System

A complete mining loop for VORP servers: swing a pickaxe, blast ore seams, and wash rock for gold at a cradle you build yourself. No NPCs, no menus, no mission chains. Players just walk up and work.

Features

Pickaxe mining

  • Hold G at a rock node to mine. Loot goes straight to the inventory.

  • Nodes deplete after a set number of swings and respawn for everyone.

  • Rocks crumble and break apart on the final hit, with pickaxe hit sounds.

  • Optional second pickaxe tier (steel_pickaxe).

Blast mining

  • Use a pipe charge near an ore seam, plant it, and get clear.

  • The blast scatters ore chunks for players to walk up and collect.

  • Nearby crew members share the chunks.

Portable gold wash cradle

  • Players use the cradle item, place a ghost preview, rotate it, and hold G to build.

  • Rock is washed into ore, gold flakes, nuggets and gems at the placed cradle.

  • Only the owner can pack it up. Cradles are saved and survive restarts.

  • Limits per player, minimum spacing between cradles, and cradle wear are all configurable.

  • Optional fixed processing spots can be added in config.

Durability and repair

  • Pickaxes and cradles wear with use and become unusable at 0 until repaired.

  • A repair kit restores the most-worn tool. No NPC needed.

Progression (optional)

  • XP and levels with built-in, VORP, or custom XP support.

  • Perks include faster swings, bonus yield, better luck and less tool wear.

Hazards and co-op

  • Cave-ins and gas in the zones you configure.

  • Crew bonuses for mining together.

Sound and effects

  • Pickaxe hits, rock crumble, shatter and blast sounds, shared between nearby players.

Ore quality (optional)

  • Ore grades are off by default and ready for market or smelter scripts to read.

Built for security and easy setup

  • All actions, timing, wear and loot rolls are checked server-side, with rate limiting.

  • A startup validator checks that every item in your config exists in your items table.

  • Optional Discord webhook logging.

  • Admin command /mining (status, reset, give, xp, cradles, validate).

  • Exports are included for other scripts.

  • No database tables are created. Only item rows are added, via the included SQL.

  • Item images are included.

Languages

English, Spanish, Portuguese (BR), French and German.

Configuration

config/mining.lua and config/features.lua are fully open and not escrow-locked. You can edit nodes, seams, loot tables, recipes, durability, XP, hazards and every feature switch. Every feature has an enabled toggle.

Installation

  1. Drop nb_mining into your resources folder.
  2. Run sql/install.sql once to add the items.
  3. Copy images/*.png to vorp_inventory/html/img/items/.
  4. Add ensure nb_mining after your dependencies.
  5. Optional admin ace: add_ace group.admin nb_mining.admin allow

Note: this resource does not sell items. Add the pickaxe, pipe charge, cradle and repair kit to your own shops, or hand them out with /mining give.
